Step 3 - Get a Solar Site Assessment
A Solar Site Assessment will help you determine a variety of things you need to plan out your solar energy system, such as:
- How many KW Hours your home uses per year
- Possible system sizes and locations
- Projected costs
- Projected pay-back, rebates, and credits
What is involved in a Solar Site Assessment?
A Solar Site Assessment starts with a personal consultation where you meet with a consultant to provide information about your house and its operation.
They will give you a more detailed overview of the process and answer your questions and concerns.
The evaluation begins by reviewing the past couple years of utility bills, as well as your major users of energy.
The consultant will examine your home and perform a number of steps:
- A shade analysis
- Determine possible system locations, size and projected costs required to off-set your utility bill
- Determine system pay-back, rebates, and credits
You will receive a report customized with detailed information such as fact sheets, photos, infrared photos, and research information.
Your report will propose solutions to any existing problems, as well as recommendations so you fully understand your unique needs and situation.
How much does a Solar Site Assessment cost?
As of March of 2012, the cost of a Solar Site Assessment is $350 through Rock & Tait Exteriors.
